Speedster Chapelli Set to Finally Bag Deserved Win at Chester

The game Chapelli has been running very well so far this season, hitting the frame on every outing. He has recorded 2nd and 3rd placed finishes on handicaps, and followed that up with a recent 2nd in a listed race at Chelmsford. He has fallen just short of getting his head in front, but the track at Chester is one that will play into his strengths and I am hoping he can finally bag the win he deserves on the opening day of the Chester May Festival.

The Mark Johnston trained three year old has been handed a nice draw in stall two, which is vital for any race around this track, and especially important when looking at sprint races. The horse likes to be up with the pace, and led when running at Chelmsford last time. From his draw there is every chance that he can bag the rail and take this field along, and I think it will take a decent horse to peg him back. He may not be the best handicapped horse in training right now, but there is no doubt that he is hovering around on a mark he can win off.

There doesn’t appear to be many horses against Chapelli in form at the moment, and the biggest danger may be a horse who finished behind him on his only start this season and that is Wild Edric. He ran 4th at Pontefract in the race where Chapelli ran 2nd, and there is little to choose between them. However, I can see Chapelli getting a lead here and bagging the rail, and that is what swings things in his favour for me.

In a race where few are jumping off the page, it may be the turn of Chapelli to gain a deserved success on his fourth start of the season.
