Invincible Army to get the Better of Blue Point in Mouthwatering Golden Jubilee
Blue Point was a surprise addition to the Golden Jubilee Stakes when the entries came out on Thursday, with many assuming he would be given time off after winning the Kings Stand Stakes on the opening day of the Royal meeting. However, he is back, and assuming that race hasn’t taken too much out of him, he is clearly in good order and has to be respected. He goes up against Invincible Army, who is the one horse at the meeting this year that could really catapult himself into stardom with a win on the final day of the meeting.
One thing Blue Point has on offer is form in the book. The Kings Stand win on Tuesday was his second in two years at this meeting, he is a sprinter who loves this place and has rock solid form everywhere you look on his CV.
Invincible Army is the opposite, he is the young pretender trying to become part of the elite group of sprinters we have around the world. He’s two from two so far this season, both at a lower level than this, firstly in a listed contest on the opening day of the turf season and more recently last month winning a Group Two at York. He has oozed class in both of those outings, deserves his chance at a big Group One, and that is exactly what he is getting here.
The choice is simple for punters, do you go with proven form of the horse who has already won this week, or what could be with Invincible Army. I have been so taken by Invincible Army’s two performances this season that I simply cannot dessert him, and he is the pick in this one for me. He has a huge engine, I think he could become a special horse and hopefully tomorrow in the Golden Jubilee he shows the world just how good he is.
