Lever Du Soleil Fancied to Land Hat Trick at Catterick
Irish raider Lever Du Soleil has had a good time in the UK over the past few days. He first came over last Wednesday and won at Musselburgh in very comfortable fashion before following up with another win at Ayr on Monday. Now he goes to Catterick for a third win on Wednesday, and he certainly looks to have a good chance despite another penalty to carry on his back.
When you combine his two penalties and the fact that he is 1lb out of the handicap for this higher class of race, Lever Du Soleil has 11lb extra to carry than when winning at Musselburgh last Wednesday, so this is not going to be easy for him. However, when you look at the mark he is currently on over hurdles, there is no doubt that he still has more to give on the flat, and I think at least one more win is in him.
He won easily at Musselburgh, in the way of a very well handicapped horse and was value for far more than his two and a half length official winning distance. The win at Ayr was not as impressive, he only won by a neck that day but that was from a very well handicapped horse and one that had made the trip over from Ireland like he had. The pair were clear of the third horse and that gives me hope that he can go in again. It is also worth noting that the Ayr race was over 1m5f, and I think the return to two miles here will suit him a lot better.
Looking at the races he has ran in and the places he has been, there is no doubt that this has been a plan put together by trainer Gavin Cromwell, and I think he is going to be rewarded with yet another win here. This is the last race he is entered in over the coming days, so it is likely to be his last stop off, as well as being the best race he has ran in so far during the stint over here.
I think they can end with another win, record the hat trick and go home with some solid prize money in the bank to give the horse a well earnt break from racing so frequently. I’m backing Lever Du Soleil to make it three from three in a week at Catterick on Wednesday.
